THE POWER OF GOD'S BLESSING

January 2017

"I will bless you and make you a blessing."

The promise to Abraham is now for the whole world through the New Covenant. Jesus Christ is Lord, at God's right hand exalted, and the Holy Spirit has been outpoured. Genesis 12:2, Acts 2:33-36, Romans 4:12

The whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord. Habbakuk 2:14

It will surely be a greater awareness of God, for the psalmist tells us that the earth is (already) filled with the mercy of the Lord. Psalm 33:6

God delights in mercy, and also in righteousness and justice. Jeremiah 9:24, Micah 7:18

His people will possess all things and there will be great blessing. Isaiah 65

A new focus on God's covenant promises will help us in difficult times to dwell on what is good and worthy of praise. And always to pray. Philippians 4:4-8

Under the Mosaic Covenant, the High Priest was instructed to bless the people of God with specific words, and God would then place His Name upon them and bless them.

"The Lord bless thee and keep thee.
The Lord make His face to shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee.
The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee and give thee peace."
Numbers 6:24

In the New Covenant, Paul tells us God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in Heavenly places through Christ Jesus. Ephesians 1:3

We can behold the glory of the Lord, as in a mirror, to be changed to be more like Him. This is our great hope. 2 Corinthians 4. So our focus is so important.

The scripture says that the servants of the Lord will see His face and His Name will be in their foreheads. Revelation 22:3-4

May the Lord reveal His Covenant of Mercy and Peace to us more and more, and reveal the power of His blessing in these days. Psalms 25, Isaiah 54, Acts 3:25-26

And may He bless us and help us to bless others. Romans 12

Amen

This song can be a prayer:

"His Mercy endures forever, His mercy endures for ever,
He has broken every chain, and I'll proclaim His Name
He has set the captives free, and brought them liberty."
